Our goal is always to make sure everything looks great before you move in—and there's no better way than having us do it.

Here are the steps:

  • You need to make sure that the power is off first, and then unplug it from its electrical outlet. You should also make sure that the fan is not plugged into anything else—just in case it’s plugged into another appliance.
  • Take off all of the coverings from the ventilation pipe and the blades.
  • Remove the cover of your bathroom extractor fan.
  • Remove the screws holding the blades in place with a screwdriver.
  • If you see any clogs in the drain, try using a plunger to clear them out. If that doesn't work, call a plumber.
  • Pull off both sides of each cover and set them aside for later

Now that everything is removed from inside your extractor fan, you can see all parts laid out on a clean dry surface, which should include all screws, nuts, washers, and so forth that came.

The process of cleaning an extractor fan involves removing any debris with a brush or vacuum cleaner and then wiping down the blades with a cloth or paper towel. Any parts are cleaned with warm soapy water.  For any parts that have been cleaned with warm soapy water, you can also use an aerosol cleaner on certain models if they have been covered in an oily residue. This will help to remove any dirt that has become trapped inside. Clean all metal surfaces with a damp cloth or sponge that can be used on all surfaces of your bathroom extractor fan. Use a brush to remove any stubborn material from between the blades and housing of the extractor fan. Motor and clear debris away from it with the cotton buds.

For your extractor fan to function properly, the outer housing must be kept clean. The exterior of your unit should always be cleaned once a week using a soft brush or cloth. You can also use a vacuum cleaner or compressed air duster to remove any dust from inside the unit as well as from its exterior casing.

Once you have cleaned your bathroom extractor fan, you should make sure that it is dry before putting it back in place. You can do this by using some newspaper, which will prevent any dampness from getting into the motor and causing damage to it.
